Case Keenum - Possibly an NFL-player?

We can all agree that Case Keenum's last year has been a real roller coaster for him. It's just been 12 months since Keenum had been laying facedown and motionless, after he tried to tackle his way out of an interception. One week earlier Keenum tried the same stunt, with an also bad outcome. That time he got away with just a concussion. This time it was way more serious. This time, it was a season-ending knee injury, with Keenum's college-future at stake. While Keenum sat on the team bus, he received a text message, it said: "His plan is perfect". Only moments later another message popped up: "His plan is perfect". All his life Keenum has been a faithful christian, and he knew what it meant. Short after his knee injury Houston applied for a sixth-year of college football for Keenum. He knew, if he didn't get the sixth-year, it would be a Hail Mary pass towards the NFL. He would be facing a really quick rehabilitation, so he could be ready for the NFL Draft 2011 in late-April. But the good news came in mid-January. Kevin Sumlin called and told him, that they got the sixth-year!

Case Keenum plays in a spread offense, and everybody with just a little football-knowledge, know that it's a pretty controversial way to play this beautiful game. Keenum is not comfortable in a behind-center situation, where he has to drop back 5 or 7 steps and deliver the ball perfectly. There is this theory, NFL-teams don't want to be bothered with a quarterback, who doesn't know basics like taking a snap and dropping back, and I tend to give the theory right. But Keenum is without any doubt a top 10 quarterback in the NFL Draft 2012, who just happens to play an Air Raid-offense. His throwing ability is fantastic, his vision is terrific and in the spread-formation, you won't find a better match than Case Keenum. He's only 1400 yards away from breaking NCAA's career passing yards record, and needs 14 touchdowns to pass Graham Harrell's career touchdown passes record. He's a true college legend. We can all agree that he's a special player. Two years ago Keenum was a Heisman-participant, and perhaps he should have used the hype to enter the draft in 2010, but he didn't. One of the reasons NFL-teams won't draft a spread quarterback is because of their footwork. But let us be real, if we look away from Brady and Manning, there's a huge amount of terrible footwork in the NFL. I think Case can learn to play in standard position under center. He wants to play in the NFL so bad. He's like Tim Tebow, just slower and with a 100 times better throwing ability. Talent is talent, even though it's in the spread formation.

Case Keenum will be drafted in the Draft 2012. Perhaps not in the first 3 rounds, but he will eventually be drafted. He's truly top class.
